Dr. Nancy DeBasio, President of Research College of Nursing, received Honorary Membership Award from American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) on March 24, 2014.
Dr. DeBasio is a true champion for nursing profession and has served as an outstanding role model and visible leader at AACN. She has been an active member at AACN holding a variety of positions on committees and task forces as well as elected positions for over 20 years. She served as Member-at-Large on the Board of Directors from 2005 to 2009 and served as Chair of the Government Affairs Committee from 2007-2009. Through her role as Chair of the Government Affairs Committee, she expanded the State Grassroots Liaison program which enhanced AACN’s presence on Capitol Hill.
In addition, Dr. DeBasio was a member of the Bylaws Task Force, the AACN Nominating Committee, the Task Force on Patience Safety Competencies, and the Interdisciplinary Education Task Force. She has served as a mentor for the AACN Academic Leadership Program and New Dean Mentoring program and currently chairs the Nursing CAS Advisory Group. Dr. DeBasio’s unwavering commitment to AACN and the nursing community is truly remarkable.
