Students with a previous Bachelors degree in a non-nursing field would qualify to apply to the Accelerated B.S.N. program offered by Research College of Nursing and Rockhurst University. This unique program provides qualified students with the opportunity to complete the B.S.N. degree in 12 months. In addition to possessing a Bachelors degree students must complete pre-requisites including 15 credit hours at Rockhurst University. Students begin the application process 1 ½-2 years prior to the August they wish to enter the 12 month program. This time frame allows for completion of pre-requisites including the 15 hours required by Rockhurst University. Although students do not have to complete the pre-requisites prior to applying to the program, student s must have a minimum of 2 science courses completed (Anatomy, Physiology, Microbiology or Chemistry) to be competitive in the applicant pool. The admission committee meets in August a year prior to enrollment.
The Accelerated B.S.N. option is full-time and students need to be in a position where they do not have to work for one year while completing the program. Completion of the 12 month nursing curriculum allows students to be eligible to sit for licensure to become a Registered Nurse.
