Are you curious about the different career paths you can take in the field of nursing? For more than 30 years Explore RCoN has helped Kansas City-area teens become energized and inspired while expanding their skills and healthcare horizons.
Enjoy a three-day program designed for rising high school juniors and seniors interested in pursuing a career in health care. As in previous years, space is limited and Explore RCoN is expected to fill up quickly.

Join us for an exciting day where you will gain valuable skills to use in your academic and professional career. From vitals and injections to exploring nursing career options, our popular enrichment program will take you beyond the classroom into an immersive day in the life of a professional nurse. Accommodation and Facilities
Participants will be matched with a counselor who is a current Research College of Nursing student. Educational instruction takes place on-campus at Research College of Nursing. Shadowing will take place at various HCA Midwest Health facilities, including:
- Research Medical Center
- Centerpoint Medical Center
- Overland Park Regional Medical Center
Cost and Scholarships
Cost to attend Explore RCoN is $100. This non-refundable registration fee covers food and supplies.
Full scholarships are available through The Research Foundation, thanks to a grant from the R.A. Long Foundation. Students can indicate their need for a scholarship within the application below.
Application Deadline: April 1, 2024
Eligibility: Participants must be high school students entering their junior or senior year in the fall of 2024 to apply for Explore RCoN 2024.
Applications will be open on this site starting January 2024 through April 1, 2024.
