Get Involved at Research College of Nursing
At RCoN we believe in the value of student programs and organizations as a means to attain our mission and values for every student. Here, you will hone your organizational, interpersonal, and leadership skills. Our goal is to provide nursing students opportunities to become more active participants in our communities and provide services to the greater society.
Make Your Mark
You will have many opportunities to get involved outside the classroom at RCoN. Student organizations along with social and educational programming help students to develop their leadership skills, build school spirit and camaraderie, and interact with other students, faculty, staff, and members of the community.
Voice Your Ideas
We provide a number of forums for students to engage in the building process of RCoN. Administration at RCoN highly value and consider student feedback regarding College governance, curriculum, and student life issues.
The Student Handbook, formerly known as the Guide to Student Life, is updated annually and provides students information about Research College of Nursing as well as the policies and procedures. All students at RCoN as well as residents of the Student Village are expected to abide by the standards of appropriate behavior outlined in the Student Handbook.
Living on Campus
Research College of Nursing offers on-campus housing for students affiliated with education programs sponsored by Research Medical Center. These schools include RCoN, School of Radiologic Technology, and School of Nuclear Medicine Technology. If space is available, short term housing is available to students from other institutions who have been assigned to Research Medical Center facilities for a clinical rotation or internship.
In order to remain in housing, students must be currently registered and attending class or pre-registered for courses for the next term.
The Student Village offers one bedroom apartments and two bedroom townhomes to qualified students. Married and single parent students are afforded the same housing privileges and accommodations as all other students. For complete housing policies, please read the Student Handbook.
Housing fees include a $200 deposit at the time of application. Other fees are charged on a semester basis. All utilities are included except telephone and cable. For more information or a complete listing of current rates, contact student affairs at (816) 995-2806 or via email.
Students may also develop new student organizations to meet the changing needs of our community at RCoN. If interested, please contact Amanda Gray, Director of Student Affairs via email.
