There are certain resources RCoN students use every day. These links offer quick access to your essentials:

Clinical and Practical Learning

An education at RCoN is all about getting experience. Discover how we help you earn the skills you need and learn the rules of the road.

The Simulation Center allows you to work through complex, high-risk patient scenarios, giving you a chance to make mistakes, receive immediate debriefing feedback, and build confidence in your critical skills.

Students use The Simulation Center for nursing practice through their clinical courses. Individual or small-group remediation may be scheduled on a case-by-case basis.

The Learning Skills Lab (LSL) provides an environment where students can get hands-on experience and refine their clinical skills. The following policies apply when working in the LSL:

  1. All used needles and glass must be deposited in clearly marked red contamination sharps boxes available in the LSL.
  2. Needles are not permitted to leave the LSL.
  3. Children are not permitted to be in the LSL, unless as part of a planned educational event.
  4. Only manufacturer recommended lubricant (in a labeled bottle) should be used on mannequins.
  5. Equipment is available for practicing nursing procedures. Contact the LSL Coordinator for use of additional supplies or equipment.
  6. Invasive procedures (IV start, injections) can only be performed on designated practice equipment, such as IV practice arms and injection pads. Students are not permitted to practice on themselves and/or each other.
