Nurse Educator (NE) Track

The NE is designed to meet the needs of current and potential nurse educators in academic or healthcare settings to develop and refine their practice as teachers of students, clients and/or employees. The program includes the MSN core courses, clinically focused advanced practice nursing core courses, and educationally focused courses. Students will be prepared with a strong clinical foundation as well as theory and practice in the role of the nurse educator in a focused area. The program of study requires each student to complete 34 credit hours including 360 hours of clinical experience.

Nurse Educator (NE) Certificate Program

The Nurse Educator certificate program is designed for individuals prepared with a Master of Science in Nursing who wish to gain specialty knowledge in this role. Academic and Professional Development Nurse Educator sub-tracks are offered. The certificate consists of 12 credit hours (6 on-line courses). A practicum course is also required that is comprised of 60- contact hours. Students will select a preceptor and develop their own course objectives under the auspices of a graduate faculty for the practicum course. The practicum experience should be consistent with the nurse educator sub-track (i.e. academic or professional development).

**Practicum is a semester-long site-based course comprised of 60 contact hours. Students will select their site, preceptor, and develop their own course objectives under the auspices of a graduate faculty person. The experience should be consistent with the type of nurse educator for which the student studied (Academic nurse educator or Professional Development nurse educator).
