Our college lies in the heart of Kansas City. The long-standing inequities deeply embedded in our lives and community have been highlighted by the recent tragic events across the country. With our mission as the guiding force, we feel it is important to speak on the racial issues and civil unrest in our community and nation.

As our mission states, “Above all else, Research College of Nursing is committed to empowering people by educating nurses, developing leaders, and caring for our communities.”

Today we stand in solidarity with our community against racial injustices and continue the careful and intentional education of nurses as thoughtful and thought-provoking change agents. Nursing calls on us to be compassionate caregivers who embrace differences among those we serve and our colleagues.

We are here to listen, to learn, and to take action toward a more diverse and inclusive college community and profession. We will continue providing education on the impact of social justice in healthcare and how it affects our world and our home city. It is our hope that you will join us in providing the care that our community needs now and in the future.
